Shipwreck recovery's from the famous Flying Enterprise go on Public display
Priceless artifacts recovered from the wreck of the famous Flying Enterprise that sank in 1952 by Deep Sea Divers Leigh Bishop & Jamie Powell from a depth of 280ft in the Western Approaches of the English Channel are to go on display to the public. These artifacts were brought up from the depths after the two divers who were on the team that discovered the wreck then declared to the Customs Receiver of Wreck in the United Kingdom as per the UK law and painstakingly restored by Leigh Bishop. They were then transported to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in the United Kingdom where curator Milly Newman (pictured below) took hold of the artifacts in ready for display to the public in January 2008. Leigh Bishop also gave the museum dozens of other artifacts and memorabilia from when the ship sank from his own personal collection to accompany the display. Below shows pictures of some of these artifacts including the Ships compass binnacle, the builders plate, a navigation lamp and a porthole. (There is also a picture of the binnacle the day it was recovered)
